Mammaglobin is a 10 kDa cytoplasmic glycoprotein. A correlation has been observed between elevated expression of the mammaglobin gene and breast cancer. Mammaglobin is present in approximately 80% of breast cancers. Mammaglobin is a sensitive and specific marker for breast cancer. A panel should also include GCDFP-15 and estrogen receptor alpha.
