p63 is a transcription factor with significant structural similarity to p53 and p73. p63 plays a fundamental role in development and differentiation and is detected in a variety of human tissues, including basal cells of the epidermis, urothelium, and glandular epithelium. The p63 antibody may be useful in the detection of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck or in distinguishing between prostate adenocarcinomas and benign prostate tissue.
